Katie Kirk is a Brooklyn-based playwright & screenwriter originally from Northwest Indiana.
Katie's work has been supported by Theater Masters, Fresh Fruit Festival, Carnegie Mellon School of Drama, Shared Manifest Entertainment, the University of Kentucky, Missouri State University, Script Club NYC, the Kennedy Center's American College Theater Festival, and others. They've had plays produced in multiple states and published by Concord Theatricals.
Katie's received an Alfred P. Sloan Foundation screenwriting award and the Mary Marlin Fisher Playwriting Award. They’ve been a finalist for opportunities including ABC Signature’s Emerging Playwright Initiative, the cell theatre's Residency Program, and the Kennedy Center’s Gary Garrison Ten-Minute Play Award, & a semifinalist for the Humanitas Carol Mendelsohn College Drama Screenwriting Award, NormalAve’s NAPSeries, and Rattlestick Theater's Terrence McNally New Works Incubator, plus some other stuff.Â
They’re a member of PlayPenn's 2024-2025 Playwrights Cohort, Fresh Binder Productions' Spring 2025 Cohort, the Playwrights' Center, Transport Group’s Emerging Theatre Makers, and the Dramatists Guild of America, & an alumni of the University of Kentucky (BA & MA, English) and Carnegie Mellon University (MFA, Dramatic Writing).
